Renée Register specializes in the creation and organization of metadata to optimize content discovery. She has over twenty years’ experience in building and growing innovative metadata systems, products, and services for libraries, vendors, and the publisher supply chain. Her consulting and advisory services focus on analysis, interpretation, and implementation of best practices and systems for metadata creation, acquisition, maintenance, and distribution.

Renée holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky and was named U.K. Library and Information Science Alumna of the Year in 2009.

Her experience includes ten years with Ingram Book Group, first as Manager of Cataloging Services for Ingram Library Services and then as Director of Classification and Bibliographic Control with Ingram Customer Systems. At Ingram, her responsibilities included oversight of policies and practices relating to both publisher supply chain product description metadata in ONIX and other formats and library metadata in MARC format.

Renée was with OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) for six years, serving  as Manager of Contract Cataloging Services and as Senior Product Manager with OCLC Metadata Services and Applications, specializing in partnering with publishers and vendors. While at OCLC she developed OCLC Metadata Services for Publishers and OCLC Contract Cataloging Services for Publishers.

She recently launched DataCurate LLC, a consulting and training firm specializing in assisting content providers and libraries in the development of 21st century data policies, practices, workflows, and systems.
