Mike Shatzkin

Mike Shatzkin is the Founder & CEO of The Idea Logical Company and a widely-acknowledged thought leader about digital change in the book publishing industry.  In his nearly 50 years in publishing, he has played almost all the roles: bookseller, author, agent, editor, production director, sales and marketing director, and, for the past 30 years, consultant. His insights about how the industry functions and how it accommodates digital change form the basis of all of the company’s consulting efforts.

Mike has organized conferences, spoken to industry groups, and worked with leading publishers, suppliers and trading partners across the globe. His blog, The Shatzkin Files, is one of the most closely-watched ongoing commentaries on digital change in trade publishing. A compilation of the first two years of the blog has just been published as an ebook available through Kobo. (It will be made available through other ebook platforms later in the year.)

Mike has recently announced a new global conference initiative with partner Michael Cader, Publishers Launch Conferences, focused on helping publishing professionals worldwide navigate the digital transition. Working in conjunction with some of the world’s best-known publishing fairs and professional organizations — including BookExpo America, the Publishers Association of the UK, the Frankfurt Book Fair, and Digital Book World — Publishers Launch Conferences will convene at least seven events in four cities in the next eight months.
