Founder, Bookigee
United States
Kristen McLean is the founder and CEO of Bookigee.com, an innovative early-stage tech venture in the publishing industry. Before founding Bookigee, Kristen was the Executive Director of the Association of Booksellers for Children (ABC), a non-profit trade association that networks the children’s book industry. In 2011, ABC merged with its larger sister association, the American Bookseller’s Association where its work on behalf of children’s booksellers continues.
Prior to ABC, Kristen spent twelve years in the book and toy industry in a wide range of roles from frontline retailing and commission sales, to trade marketing for a major US publisher. As part of her role as an industry strategist, Kristen lectures nationally and internationally on issues facing the publishing world including the effect of technology and culture on books and reading, the role of bookstores and libraries in the lives of 21st century readers, and new models for the Publishing Industry.
Bookigee represents the synthesis of more than a decade of thinking about new paradigms for books and content. You can find out more about her including her writing and presentations at www.kristenmclean.org.
